Hey People! Been busy with work and it's tough to email during office hours. let alone blog. Anyways, here i am. staying back in the office to use the internet. i'll try to keep my blog updated at least once a week. ha. so, i know what i did during my 10weeks here too... Anyways, one reallyyy interesting fact is that Blogs are banned in China. Surprisingly, i can blog but can't view my blog. Oh wells... Let me share my first week in Shanghai...
Last Sunday -
*Thkx to all the sms well wishes, the meet-ups during the week and those who were at the airport. Touched down safely and was left alone in the apartment. Decided to go explore the estate and then went to 徐家汇 (xu jia hui). Nice scenery but the stuffs there are all too expensive. Saw a no brand handbag which cost S$60 which i liked alot but couldnt bring myself to buy it. =( Happened to pass by a really beautiful catholic church. N.i.c.E! Then, it's home sweet home to prepare to start work on Monday!
Monday -
First day at work... great colleagues. and my supervisor is only nice when the big boss is around. oh wells...Got my own table and laptop but it's right outside my supervisor's door... was just reading chinese HR books and email-ing the whole day... Anyways, went to a famous seafood restaurant, 千岛湖 (qian dao hu) after work with the HR Department. Great food. After dinner, my supervisor brought us to get some wool clothing cos they think we're wearing too little. ha. i got myself a wool jacket...really useful. heh.
Went home and before we could bathe... power failure. and it's completely dark... we had to call our colleague to come over and get it done. our second day only eh..scary la.
Tuesday -
Work... Translate chinese HR policies to chinese. Then, went for dinner at 南方商城 (nan fang shang cheng) with 2 other singaporeans from our company. feel so good having singaporeans in the same company. Moreover, one is Jen's supervisor. i had to speak english to someone! my chinese is killing me here.... but i think i'm improving by the day... haha. Another shocking incident at home... i went to turn on the antique heater to warm the water and it exploded. man... i didn't dare to turn it on for the next few days. ha.
Wednesday -
Work... translating again... After work, went to 南方商城 again to get some neccessities. Got new solution for my lenses... and some accessories. Hee...
Thursday -
Busy day for me. rushing work for my supervisor esp nearing the end of the day... oh wells. then went home straight after work. good girl eh... =P
Friday -
Usual work - translation. Then, there's a company event every last friday of the month at the company's tavern. HR was in charge this month. hee. got to meet all the big bosses and the other singaporeans in the company. hee. After that, my colleague invited us for pub-bing.
Went to K cos it was too early for pub.. the K standard here is really not bad man... impressed. Then, went to a pub cum club. Some were playing dice, drinking, smoking and of cos... dancing. but the music seriously sucks. it's either jazz, techno or electric. goodness. and the whole place is filled with smoke. eeew! reached 'home' abt 1plus. slept ard 3...
Saturday -
Woke up at 1pm. haha. then ordered 外卖 which cost us only 25RMB. Then, started counting money and realized i lost quite a few RMBs... totally pissed off. Slacked at home until 9pm before we met our singaporean friend for clubbing at Guan Di and DkD. i slipped and fell at the stairs can... if not for Jen, i'd have rolled down the flight of stairs... the bruise is about half a S$2 note now at my shin... pain pain pain! Guan Di was not bad though. HipHop/R&B all night. damn good. DkD...all trance. not my type. Reached 'home' about 3am...
Sunday -
Treat to DimSum at a teochew restaurant by the Brewery Manager. A welcome treat for us and also a singaporean gathering. hee. they serve superb food man. a must-go for teochews! =P Then, went to 城皇庙(cheng huang miao) where they sell cheap stuffs. Got some accessories again. ha. Then, it was Raffles City which resembles exactly like Singapore's malls cos it's under Capitaland. Oh wells... Home Sweet Home to prepare for a new week...
